HH2/VE2TKH Update

QSL-HH2-VE2TKH

HH2/VE2TKH: Dec. 13th UPDATE Operation will end on Dec 15th around 07:00z-08:00z probably on 40m. Tnx to DX callers even if my signal was weak I worked most of you. Special tnx to Laurie VK7ZE for his call from Tasmania, he is in the log and I’m in his log. Pretty interesting QSO with my 5 foot screwdriver antenna. Haiti is a great country if it can stay quiet. Labadee is a very nice tourist destination with a brand new warf that can welcome any big ship from Carnival to Cunar cruiselines. WX is great at this time of the year.

You can be safe if you stick to areas like Petionville, Kenscoff, Port-au-Prince downtown or Canape-Vert only by daytime. By nightime you must go out with good haitians friends and a car, otherwise it is very risky.

You must absolutely avoid Cite Soleil and Bel-Air like I did. I am lucky that in those 28 days here, that I wasn’t sick at all. You only need to drink Culligan, Aquafine, Crystal or others purified source water, also being careful where you eat and what is in your plate. Have fun if you visit here someday like I did, for myself I had plenty of fun here. More pics to come when back in Quebec City. Regards de Steve. HH2/VE2TKH

HH2/VE2TKH Update. Steve VE2TKH Needs YOUR Help Please!

December 7th UPDATE Batteries powered operation courtesy from Nadia Dieudonne. Propagation concerns and antenna performance restricted sometime. I want to express my sinceres thanks to Mr. Jean-Robert Gaillard, HH2JR for his kind help to obtain HH licence. WX is stil amazingly good and local food too. Also, my special thanks to Tim M0URX and ON5UR for QSL cards. I want to express the same gratefulness to Col, MM0NDX for publishing infos on his website. Still SPARE TIME operation, tnx for understanding. Maybe more time will be available on ”AIR” next visit here. Regards from Petionville.

Dec.3th UPDATE Still 2 hours to 3 hours a day batteries powered spare time operation going with very low propagation from Haiti. Power can fail at any time, so sorry if you notice my signal disappearing suddently. Still paper logging. Now a little about Haitian life. Port-au-Prince is really nice and cool despite all being said by global worldwide medias. You can eat with your wife or girlfriend for less than 10 USD for both in a restaurant. An Haitian beer named ‘’Prestige’’ is 0.75 USD and any kind of sodas are 0.33 USD in the streets (a bit more in restaurants and nightclubs). People are kind, friendly and smiling a lot. Weather is very very good since I came last Nov. 18th with only two little shower in two evenings in a row (Nov 27th and 28th). On december 1st, I went to the National Museum for 1.25 USD a visit and learned a lot about the history of this nation. I enjoy public community tranports called ‘’tap-tap’’ for 0.12 USD a ride nearly every days. Ladies are very beautiful all around here. Yeah ! Haiti way of life is good and I like it very much.

Latest News M0XXT Shack Renovation
Callum M0MCX licence holder for M0XXT, UK Scout Contest Team has informed me that due to continued shack renovation at the UK Scout Contest Headquarters that the team will be off the air for a while as the shack moves into their new room over the coming months. Callum informs me that the computers are currently in storage and that the last log update will not be forwarded to me for a while until the equipment is relocated in the new shack. We would like to apologise to those waiting for the QSL. Sorry for the delay. Good luck guys with the shack renovation. I know that you have done so much work already and the new room is the final stage of the renovation.

RSGB Bureau Update
I have no further information on the state of the Bureau outgoing cards from the RSGB. Peter Kirby, General Manager has failed to reply to my email so far, so i do not know if my complaint is even being taken seriously. More information as it comes in.

OY1OF Back On Air
Welcome back on air to OY1OF Ólavur Frederiksen from Torshavn in the Faroe Islands. Ólavur has recently been helping with antenna repairs and improvements at the Feroskir Amateur Radio HQ and will be operating from the club shack. I have now received the OY1OF log  which is now on the online log search. QSL cards will be available from this week. QSL Via M0URX

And Finally….
Those of you visiting this IRC_Oldwebsite for the first time may well be asking “So
what is United Radio QSL Bureau?”
We support DX Stations and DX’peditions with the full QSL package, from QSL Design and Printing by Maxi Print ON5UR, Max Rymenant, this is provided completely free when using our QSL Management Bureau with all QSL’s managed by M0URX Tim Beaumont with fast Direct QSL, Bureau QSL can be requested by email using our own Online QSL Request Service. LoTW upload service provided if requested. PayPal payment provided for that faster service!
I would also like to thank the many DX’ers who send that little extra with the QSL which is very much appreciated as all donations are put to good use either sponsoring DX’peditions or in providing a high quality QSL Service to the DX Community. United Radio QSL Bureau is here to give you the QSL service you ask for.

OLD Yellow IRC’s – Well of course these are NOT valid to exchange for postage on your QSL cards these days, but do you have any hiding in those shack draws? You do don’t you? Ok well if you want, you can donate them to United Radio QSL Bureau and we will find a way to exchange them for cash. This cash will be used for the members of UR Bureau DX’peditions and QSL card printing. Let’s see how many we can find.
Your help will be most appreciated! Thank you!
